Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 8, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the WIGO entity ("WIGO", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects personal data when people use the WIGO vehicle-rental service, including our website, mobile applications, APIs, customer support, and related tools.

WIGO is responsible for the personal-data processing described in this policy to the extent required by applicable law. To exercise a privacy right, make a complaint, or ask a question, contact WIGO through the support details published in the service or on the WIGO contact page.

1. Personal data we collect

We collect personal data provided directly by users, data generated through use of the service, and data received from providers that help us operate rentals safely and effectively.

Account and profile data

We may collect names, usernames, email addresses, phone numbers, profile photos, account credentials, authentication tokens, account status, and account creation or update dates.

Identity, eligibility, and driving data

To verify renters and authorized drivers, assess rental eligibility, prevent fraud, support insurance or claims processes, and comply with law, we may collect names, birth dates, phone numbers, driver's-license numbers, issuing countries, issue and expiration dates, and images of licenses or identity documents. Where required, we process this information with consent or another valid legal basis.

Address and location data

We may collect street addresses, cities, states or regions, postal codes, countries, latitude and longitude, vehicle locations, pickup and return locations, and location-search data. Precise locations are used only when needed to provide, secure, or support a rental or another feature requested by the user.

Host, vehicle, and listing data

For hosts and listed vehicles, we may collect host contact details; vehicle make, model, year, VIN, license plate, location, photos, availability, price, currency, features, condition, and listing status; and records showing who owns or assists with a listing.

Rental and trip data

We may collect reservation dates and times, trip status, selected vehicle, renter, driver and host relationships, pickup and return details, trip instructions, reviews, ratings, and communications relating to a rental.

Vehicle-condition and safety data

We may collect photos taken before or after a trip, damage reports, inspection records, accident or incident details, police or insurance information, and other evidence needed to document vehicle condition, investigate a safety issue, or resolve a claim or dispute.

Payment and transaction data

Payments may be processed by third-party payment providers. WIGO may retain customer or payment identifiers, amounts, currencies, payment status, transaction events, refunds, host payouts, and metadata needed for reconciliation, accounting, fraud prevention, chargebacks, and disputes. WIGO does not intentionally store complete payment-card numbers or security codes on its own servers.

Partnership and referral data

If a user participates in or is referred through a WIGO partnership program, we may collect partnership-account information, voucher codes, host-registration attribution, reward amounts, currencies, and reward-payment status.

Device, notification, and technical data

We may collect push-notification tokens, device platform, IP address, browser or app information, request metadata, security and access logs, diagnostics, crash information, and similar technical data needed to operate and protect the service.

Support and communications data

When a user contacts us, we may collect contact details, messages, attachments, call or support records, and any information supplied to investigate and respond to the request.

2. How we use personal data

We use personal data to:

  • create, authenticate, maintain, and secure WIGO accounts;
  • publish and manage vehicle listings and availability;
  • verify identity, driving eligibility, vehicle information, and transaction integrity;
  • arrange and administer reservations, pickups, returns, trip documentation, reviews, and support;
  • process payments, host payouts, refunds, partnership rewards, chargebacks, and disputes;
  • communicate service messages, booking updates, transactional emails, and push notifications;
  • detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, theft, abuse, security incidents, unsafe conduct, and violations of our Terms;
  • handle accidents, damage, insurance matters, fines, claims, and legal requests;
  • improve reliability, safety, accessibility, customer experience, and operational performance;
  • comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, tax, insurance, and law-enforcement obligations; and
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and protect WIGO, its users, vehicles, and the public.

WIGO does not sell personal data.

3. Legal bases for processing

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, WIGO relies on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • performing a contract or taking requested steps before a contract, including account creation, vehicle listing, reservation, payment, pickup, and return;
  • consent, including where required for optional profile information, notifications, marketing, cookies, or certain identity and driving-verification activities;
  • compliance with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, regulatory, court, law-enforcement, insurance, and road-safety requirements;
  • protection of vital interests, rights, security, and safety, including urgent incident response; and
  • legitimate interests recognized by applicable law, such as preventing fraud, protecting the platform, supporting users, improving the service, and resolving disputes, provided those interests are not overridden by individual rights.

Where processing is based on consent, consent may be withdrawn at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out or processing supported by another lawful basis.

4. How we share personal data

We share personal data only when reasonably necessary to operate and protect WIGO, complete a rental, or comply with law.

Renters, drivers, hosts, and host assistants

We may share limited contact, identity, vehicle, location, reservation, or trip information among the participants in a rental when needed to confirm eligibility, coordinate pickup and return, provide support, document vehicle condition, address safety concerns, or resolve a dispute.

Service providers

We may share data with providers of payment processing, identity or driving verification, hosting, storage, maps and location search, communications, push notifications, analytics, fraud prevention, customer support, vehicle assistance, insurance support, and professional services. Providers may use the data only as permitted by their agreements with WIGO and applicable law.

Insurers, claims handlers, and professional advisers

When relevant to an accident, damage report, insurance matter, dispute, or legal claim, we may share information with insurers, claims administrators, roadside-assistance providers, lawyers, accountants, auditors, and other professional advisers.

Authorities and legal recipients

We may disclose data to courts, regulators, law-enforcement authorities, public agencies, or other legally authorized recipients when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights and safety, prevent fraud or theft, respond to a lawful request, or enforce our agreements.

Business transfers

If WIGO is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar transaction, personal data may be disclosed or transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable safeguards.

5. International transfers

WIGO and its providers may process personal data outside the user's country. Where applicable law requires it, WIGO uses recognized safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections, access controls, and approved transfer mechanisms.

6. Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described in this policy or as required or permitted by law. The period depends on the data involved, account status, rental history, legal and accounting obligations, insurance or dispute deadlines, safety needs, and fraud risk.

In general:

  • account and profile data is retained while the account is active and for a reasonable period afterward;
  • reservation, payment, payout, partnership, tax, and accounting records are retained for applicable financial and legal periods;
  • identity, driver's-license, vehicle, and listing records are retained while needed for eligibility, safety, insurance, fraud prevention, and disputes;
  • trip and vehicle-condition photos are retained while needed for the related rental, claim, safety review, or legal obligation; and
  • technical logs are retained for security, debugging, and operations, then deleted or anonymized unless needed for an investigation or claim.

When data is no longer needed, we delete it, anonymize it, or securely archive it as permitted by law.

7. Security

WIGO uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. Measures may include access controls, authentication, encrypted transport, logging, monitoring, backups, vendor controls, and incident-response procedures. No system is completely secure, and users should protect their credentials and notify WIGO promptly of suspected unauthorized access.

8. User choices and privacy rights

Depending on applicable law, users may have rights to:

  • obtain information about how their personal data is processed;
  • access personal data held about them;
  • correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request deletion or restriction of certain processing;
  • object to certain processing or direct marketing;
  • receive a portable copy of certain data;
  • withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and
  • complain to a competent privacy or data-protection authority.

Rights may be limited where WIGO must retain or process data to complete a rental, protect users or vehicles, prevent fraud, comply with law, or establish or defend a legal claim. WIGO may verify the requester's identity before responding.

9. Communications, cookies, and similar technologies

Users may manage optional notifications through device or account settings where available. Essential messages concerning accounts, security, payments, or active rentals may still be sent.

WIGO services may use cookies, local storage, mobile identifiers, and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, fraud prevention, service operation, analytics, and legally permitted improvements. Where required, WIGO requests consent before using non-essential technologies.

10. Children's privacy

WIGO is not directed to children. Renters and drivers must satisfy the minimum age, licensing, and legal eligibility requirements applicable to the rental location. WIGO does not knowingly collect children's personal data without appropriate authorization. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal data improperly.

11. Changes to this policy

WIGO may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the service, law, providers, or data practices. For material changes, WIGO will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as updating the date above, publishing the revised policy, or providing an in-service notice.

12. Contact WIGO

Questions, complaints, and privacy-rights requests may be submitted through the support details provided in the WIGO service or on the WIGO contact page.
